Floods

The objective of the service is to develop, demonstrate and validate a prototype of an integrated flood risk management service, supporting flood prevention, forecast and alert as well as crisis and post-crisis management. The test-sites within the scope of the PREVIEW project are the catchment of the River Iller in the Bavarian Danube basin and the river Stretch of Danube. The service is composed of sub-services: High-resolved weather forecast, Ensemble short-term flood forecast, Land cover service for water management (run-off modelling + assets mapping), Flood risk mapping and damage assessment, and Flood information system.

The current end-users are the Bavarian Environment Agency, the German Water Management Authorities and the German Civil Protection.
You can see hereafter two examples of integrated Themes (II/II) in the area of Dessau (Germany) available on the website www.floodrisk.eu. Firstly, we can see satellite images combined with a Flood Hazard Map showing extreme floods (EHQ) and floods of a return period of 100 years (HQ100) and, secondly, satellite images combined with a Flood Risk Map (showing Damage potential).
